The head of Shymkent’s Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, Arman Abdeshov, is suspected of misappropriating property. The case is being investigated by the KNB Anti-Corruption Agency, Orda.kz has learned from sources.
Abdeshov was appointed to head the department in February this year, at the same time that Ruslan Berdenov took the position of deputy akim.
Notably, the detention coincided with a high-profile trial in the case concerning the armed attack on the deputy akim, in which the accused is Yernar Zhiembay, director of the akimat-owned company Turgyn Uy Shymkent (an audit is currently underway at the company).
Just days ago, in court, an employee of the Construction Department stated that Berdenov had repeatedly held meetings and warned about inspections by the Anti-Corruption Agency and the Economic Investigation Department.
Whether these events are connected is unknown.
