17-year-old Adam Kadyrov, son of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, has married, reports Orda.kz.
The wedding was confirmed by Ramzan Kadyrov himself, who also shared that Russian President Vladimir Putin personally congratulated the newlyweds.
Thank you for all the warm congratulations to the newlyweds and for all the sincere wishes to the entire Chechen people. (…) This congratulation was a wonderful expression of attention that we will never forget, Kadyrov wrote on Telegram.
He added that Putin said:
I congratulate you and your loved ones, and most importantly, the person who deserves congratulations most today — your son — on his wedding! I wish him, his wife and your entire family all the best, happiness, health and well-being! Don’t offend them, or they’ll complain to me.
Kadyrov replied that he wouldn’t dare and thanked the President for his kind words.
The marriage was first announced on June 27 by Adam’s sister, Ayshat Kadyrova, who posted on social media that the wedding would be held at their family home in the village of Akhmat-Yurt.
Adam is getting married for the first time! The bride’s name is Medni. She is from our village. Unfortunately, you can't watch the wedding anywhere. We don't publish wedding videos. This is the parents’ wish, Ayshat explained.
While the legal minimum age for marriage in Russia is 18, exceptions can be made in some regions. The timing of the wedding has come in light of persistent rumors concerning Ramzan Kadyrov’s health and his efforts to have his son be his successor. Before the wedding, Kadyrov's son met with Putin.
Adam Kadyrov has received numerous honors in recent years. He holds the record as the youngest head of a regional leader’s security service in Russia, appointed at age 15.
He’s also a recipient of multiple awards, including the Hero of Chechnya title, the Order of Kadyrov, and distinctions from several Russian regions and religious institutions.
