Ramzan Kadyrov Threatens to "Respond" to Komil Allamjonov, Target of Assassination Attempt
Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has "warned" former high-ranking Uzbek officials Komil Allamjonov and Dmitry Li, the National Agency for Prospective Projects head, Orda reports, citing Radio Ozodlik.
He has done so against what he described as "intrigues, slander, and speculation."
The statement follows reports that Uzbek authorities have placed two natives of Chechnya on an Interpol wanted list.
I recommend Komil Allamjonov and Dmitry Li not to play the role of victims. Whatever you are planning, it is better to stop in time, otherwise, you will have to answer for all the intrigues, slander, and speculation. And now I am talking about the answer according to our traditions (Kadyrov is likely referring to a blood feud - Ed.),Kadyrov wrote on Telegram:
Kadyrov also addressed rumors circulating in the media about internal discord within the family of Uzbekistan’s president:
This is a well-thought-out scenario that threatens the country’s leadership, and the people loyal to the leadership are the ones who are first and foremost at risk, in order to deprive the President of a reliable entourage. Therefore, as a person who is far from indifferent to what is happening, I call on representatives of the respected presidential family to make a statement and dispel all these dirty rumors,Kadyrov wrote.
Neither Allamjonov nor Li has publicly responded to Kadyrov’s comments.
Previously, A Radio Free Europe investigation suggested there may have been a "Chechen link" in the assassination attempt. Kadyrov has dismissed this version.
An armed attack on Komil Allamjonov, the former Uzbek presidential administration information policy department's head, was committed on October 26.
After the assassination attempt, high-ranking officials lost their positions, including Otabek Umarov as First Deputy Chair of the Presidential Security Service and The State Security Service Chair, Abdusalom Azizov.
