An armed attack on Komil Allamjonov, the former Uzbek presidential administration information policy department's head, was committed on the night of October 26, Orda.kz reports.
Kun.uz reports that the attack occurred at around 1:30 a.m. near the house of Komil Allamjonov in the Kibray district. Two unknown assailants fired several shots at the car he was in and fled the scene. Allamjonov was not injured. A criminal case has already been launched.
Komil Allamjonov was dismissed from his post as head of the presidential administration information policy department on September 30 this year. He later announced that he would continue working in the private sector.
A source of Ozodlik in the Uzbek government previously claimed that there was a "conflict" between Saida Mirziyoyeva's close associate, Komil Allamjonov, Otabek Umarov, and the State Security Service.
Ozodlik is unaware of the reasons for said conflict.
Another source, meanwhile, reported that Otabek Umarov was dissatisfied with an "influential Tashkent group" being exposed. Allegedly, it is linked to his name.
The source claims Umarov suggested that "Allamjonov had a hand" in exposing this "group," which allegedly "put pressure on local businessmen and officials."
Ozodlik's sources have stated that after these reports, an investigation was launched into the group, and several people associated with Umarov "fled to Dubai."
Earlier, Ozodlik's sources in the Uzbek government reported that Komil Allamjonov's resignation at the end of September was "unexpected" for many in the government and the presidential administration.
Sources also reported that 40-year-old Allamjonov "would remain on Saida Mirziyoyeva's team."
Allamjonov's resignation before parliamentary elections scheduled in Uzbekistan at the end of October this year gave rise to rumors about his possible appointment to a new, higher position.

The article has been corrected to omit a misleading sentence. The article "the" was unintentionally omitted. Komil Allamjonov's former position made him the "third person in the presidential administration," according to Ozodlik.
