President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, Orda.kz reports.
At the start of the conversation, Tokayev congratulated Trump on the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, noting that the country had become one of the world’s leading powers in a relatively short period of history.
The two leaders discussed bilateral economic cooperation and political ties. Tokayev said the agreements reached during his visit to Washington in November last year were being successfully implemented.
Tokayev also reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s longstanding commitment to nuclear non-proliferation and the non-proliferation of highly enriched uranium, stressing the importance of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The president also spoke positively about his recent meetings in Astana with U.S. officials, including Senator Steve Daines, Special Presidential Envoy Sergio Gor and representatives of American businesses.
At the end of the conversation, Tokayev invited Trump to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan at a mutually convenient time.
