A preliminary court hearing in the case of Saken Mamash is scheduled for May 29 in Astana, Orda.kz reports.
The former diplomat will be tried under Part 2 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan ("Torture") in the capital’s inter-district court for criminal cases, according to the press service of the Astana court.
The investigation took nearly a year. Mamasha, who was arrested in April 2025, faces up to seven years in prison. He remains in custody.
In May last year, Karina Gosman, Mamash’s former wife, publicly accused him of abuse while he was serving at the Kazakh embassy in the UAE. A criminal case was subsequently opened, and Gosman filed for divorce.
Karina Gosman now works as a rhythmic gymnastics coach and participates in photo and video projects raising awareness about domestic violence.
