Deputy Kudaibergen Beksultanov complained in the Mazhilis about growing rudeness and aggression in Kazakh society, Orda.kz reports.
According to him, rudeness, obscene language and aggression have become commonplace, and this is destroying the country’s culture. As a positive example, he cited Japan, where moral education, known as Dotoku, is a compulsory subject in schools.
Today we are witnessing an erosion of moral filters. Rudeness, aggression and obscene language are becoming commonplace, undermining the foundations of our cultural code. The great Abay noted: ‘Söz tüzeldi, tyńdaýshy sen de tüzel’ — the culture of society begins with the culture of speech. World experience shows the effectiveness of moral education programs and the creation of an ethical environment.the deputy said.
In this connection, he proposed a number of measures to improve public culture:
- using Sergek cameras to detect aggression on the streets;
- introducing a public culture index for the regions through annual independent sociological surveys measuring the level of “speech ecology” and safety, with the results affecting the ratings of akims;
- modernizing the education system by introducing modules on speech culture and etiquette, integrating Abay’s principles, and requiring testing in nonviolent communication skills;
- creating content that promotes examples of cultured behavior;
- supporting influencers and bloggers who promote knowledge of national literature.
We are obliged to create an environment where being cultured is prestigious, and being rude is socially and economically unprofitable.he added.
