Police in the Altai district of the East Kazakhstan region have named the village of Zubovsk as the local leader in alcohol-related offenses, Orda.kz reports.
One of the reasons, police say, is the easy availability of alcohol. According to the head of the district police department, alcohol can be bought directly from private yards in the village.
Twenty-four violations involving sales at unauthorized times and another 24 cases of sales without a license were identified.Yerimbesov said.
People detained while intoxicated are taken to the center for temporary adaptation and detoxification, where they undergo a medical examination. Over the past year, more than 3000 people passed through the center.
In addition, by court order, 16 residents of the Altai district were sent for compulsory treatment for alcohol dependence. Another 16 case files were sent to court last year and will be considered this year.
