Over 6,500 Reported Domestic Violence Cases in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan's police have received nearly six and a half thousand domestic violence reports since the beginning of the year, with an increasing number of repeat offenses, reports Orda.kz.
At a briefing, Renat Zulkhairov, Deputy Chair of the Administrative Police Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, revealed that 10,000 people faced administrative charges in January, with 2,700 arrested.
When issuing protection orders, police typically require offenders to stop drinking alcohol.
In rare cases, they remove perpetrators from their homes or mandate psychological counseling.
Scientists have long proven that the true causes of domestic violence are social instability and the consequences of a difficult life situation, the decline of moral and ethical standards, the isolation of some people from society, alcoholism, drug addiction, and gambling addiction,Zulkhairov stated.
Support is available through 74 crisis centers offering shelter and assistance.
Since January, over 1,000 women have sought help, with 708 of them and their children receiving shelter.
