A fraudulent security company operating in Almaty has been shut down by authorities, Orda.kz reports, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The group allegedly seized control of properties through orchestrated conflicts, then imposed their "security" services on the establishments.
Employees of the UBOP together with the DKNB, under the coordination of the prosecutor's office in the city of Almaty, stopped the illegal activities of a security company, whose unofficial employees were representatives of the criminal environment, The Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.
The investigation highlighted a November incident where the group reportedly entered a karaoke bar, assaulting both the owner and the establishment's legitimate security personnel.
Law enforcement has detained ten suspects, with six placed in custody. Searches of their properties yielded various firearms and edged weapons.
A pre-trial investigation is underway into several cases of hooliganism and abuse of power. The suspects are being checked for involvement in other similar crimes, the Police said.
This operation follows a recent case in Shymkent, where authorities arrested a separate youth gang that had been extorting protection money from local businesses.
