Phytosanitary Inspectors and Truck Drivers Convicted for Bribery in Qostanay Region

In the Qostanay region, officials of the phytosanitary control department and truck drivers were convicted of bribery, reports Orda.kz.
According to the transport prosecutor's office, two inspectors received bribes from drivers for the unimpeded transportation of quarantined agricultural products. Along with the officials, 13 truck drivers were brought to trial, who "gave bribes" ranging from two to 20 thousand tenge.
The Qarabal District Court sentenced all defendants. The inspectors were banned from working in government agencies for life. All defendants were ordered to pay the amounts of bribes they had received,
the supervisory authority reported.
At the prosecutor's request, the court sent a private ruling to the State Inspection Committee under the Ministry of Agriculture.
