A supercomputer powered by the NVIDIA H200 chip has arrived in Kazakhstan and will soon be installed in Almaty. It’s expected to be operational within 10 days, Orda.kz reports.
Kazakhtelecom Chair Bagdat Musin announced the news on his Telegram channel, sharing that the equipment has already been delivered and is being prepared for deployment:
Yesterday we dropped by the warehouse. To make sure that the hardware of the ‘future of Kazakhstan’ had arrived safely. We breathed a sigh of relief. The video cards are in place. Our NVIDIA H200-based supercomputer is already in the country. We will soon begin installation in Almaty – at the site of the Kazakhtelecom data center. In about ten days it will be ready for work. No exaggeration. A powerful thing: 6.7 million CUDA cores, 1600 petaflops and tens of terabytes of GPU memory.
The system will be accessible to government agencies, national companies, and corporate clients. According to Musin, the supercomputer will be capable of solving complex computational problems across various fields.
Its tasks will include:
- Modeling man-made disasters and risk scenarios in advance
- Forecasting urban traffic patterns years ahead
- Assisting doctors with diagnostics based on large-scale data
- Training large language models that understand the Kazakh language, culture, and history
“And, of course, launch our own AI products without dependence on foreign servers,” Musin added.
