To mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II, the National Bank of Kazakhstan has released a commemorative 1,000 tenge banknote featuring an original design. The limited-edition note will go into circulation on May 9, with a total of five million copies printed, Orda.kz reports.
The front side of the note features the Memorial of Glory in Almaty’s Park of the 28 Panfilov Guardsmen. The reverse shows a map of Kazakhstan overlaid with archival images from wartime history.

The banknote also includes dynamic security features: when tilted, a stripe reveals a 3D effect with depth, radiance, and the illusion of motion, including a flickering eternal flame and flying cranes.
The National Bank noted that Kazakhstan played a significant role in the Victory, with approximately 1.2 million people mobilized from the Kazakh SSR — nearly 20% of the population at the time.
Our compatriots fought heroically in infantry, tank divisions, the air force, and the navy. In honor of their bravery and courage, the National Bank is issuing this commemorative banknote.
