Askhat Khasenov, Chair of the Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas, says oil trader Vitol is fulfilling its contractual obligations despite lawsuits in different countries, Orda.kz reports.
At a press conference in Astana, Askhat Khasenov noted that Vitol does not violate its contractual obligations with the national company.
I cannot comment on any criminal cases (there are several investigations against Vitol - Ed.). Vitol fulfills its obligations to us. We have clear contractual relationships. There are risks that we monitor, and if any risk that we see ends up in the "red zone," we will take measures within the framework of the contract. So far, we do not see such risks, emphasized Askhat Khasenov.
He noted that Vitol is not KazMunayGas's only oil trader; deliveries are made through other companies, including KazMunayGas Trading.
The monopoly oil trader Vitol has recently become an increasingly frequent subject of investigations into corruption schemes.
In March 2024, the trial of former Vitol Group trader Javier Aguilar revealed corruption schemes in the oil trade, an investigation conducted in the United States.
On August 23, the Dutch prosecutor's office launched an investigation into the company concerning alleged corruption in Kazakhstan.
