Peacekeepers from Kazakhstan’s third national contingent for the UN mission in the Golan Heights in Syria have undergone special training at the Bitimger peacekeeping operations training center of the Defense Ministry, Orda.kz reports.
The program includes tactical, special, medical and language training, as well as preparation for work in a multinational environment in line with international standards.
Special attention in training is given to working under conditions of increased responsibility and interaction with foreign contingents.
Deputy Defense Minister Maj. Gen. Askar Mustabekov checked the servicemen’s readiness for the mission during a working trip to the Almaty garrison. On behalf of the Defense Ministry, the personnel were presented with a projector.
The UN Disengagement Observer Force in the Golan Heights has been operating since 1974. Kazakhstan has been participating in it as an independent national contingent since 2024.
The first Kazakh peacekeeping contingent, which served in the Golan Heights in 2024, received UN awards for the successful completion of its tasks. During 11 months of service, the servicemen neutralized about 200 unexploded shells and carried out the medical evacuation of a mission employee.
