Kazakhstanis’ spending on veterinary services has risen sharply since the beginning of 2026. Veterinary service providers delivered 17.8 billion tenge worth of services paid for by households — 2.7 times more than in the same period of 2024, Orda.kz reports, citing Energyprom analysts.
In 2020–2022, the figure remained at about 3.7 billion tenge. A sharp increase was recorded in 2025.
This is due both to the growing number of pets and to rising awareness among owners of the importance of veterinary care. In addition, the market was affected by the introduction of new diagnostic and treatment services, as well as a possible increase in prices. the statistics said.
More than half of all spending on veterinary services fell on Astana, where residents spent about 9.6 billion tenge. In Almaty, spending on pet treatment reached about 3.2 billion tenge. At the same time, rural areas accounted for only about 6% of the total.
The number of registered animals also continues to grow. According to the TANBA registration system, as of April 2026 there were 386,100 registered pets in the country — 27.4% more than a year earlier. The largest numbers were registered in Almaty and Astana, and the fewest in the Atyrau and Mangystau regions.
The cost of veterinary services in large cities remains high. An initial appointment can cost from 3,500 to 10,000 tenge, while a consultation with a specialist starts at 7,000 tenge and can reach 15,000 tenge. Diagnostic procedures, including ultrasound, X-ray and CT scans, cost from 4,000 to 70,000 tenge, sometimes with additional charges for anesthesia.
Surgical procedures such as spaying and neutering cost from 9,500 to 80,000 tenge. Veterinary clinics also offer additional services, ranging from animal behavior specialists to pet taxis and daytime inpatient care.
