Tengiz Oil Production Gradually Restored After Operational Failure

An operational failure at the Tengiz field temporarily reduced oil production. The Ministry of Energy commented on the situation, Orda.kz reports.
The ministry said company employees are taking the necessary measures to restore operations. Tengizchevroil is now gradually returning production to normal mode.
On May 28, 2026, an operational failure occurred at one of Tengizchevroil’s production facilities, which led to a temporary decrease in oil production. The company is currently taking the necessary measures, and the production process is in recovery. The current situation is under constant control of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan,the ministry said.
The ministry also added that the failure did not pose a threat to the company’s employees, residents of nearby settlements, or the environment.
Earlier, Orda.kz reported that oil production at Tengiz had fallen by more than 90% — from 125,000 tons to 5,000–10,000 tons per day.
