Kazakhstan will strengthen checks at the border to prevent illegal exports of oil products, Orda.kz reports.

The decision was discussed at a government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. Officials said there is no fuel shortage in the country.

According to Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov, Kazakhstan has more than one million tons of gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel in reserve. The ministry says this is enough to cover current demand.

At the same time, Bektenov instructed the Border Service of the National Security Committee, the Ministry of Finance, and the Financial Monitoring Agency to tighten control at the state border.

The Energy Ministry will monitor the balance between fuel production, reserves, and consumption.

Kazakhstan already restricts the export of certain oil products and light distillates by road and rail. Vehicles are also not allowed to cross the state border more than once a day.
