Kazakhstan Sends Delegation to Iran for Farewell to Supreme Leader

Kazakhstan’s foreign minister Yermek Kosherbayev took part in mourning events in Iran held for the farewell to the country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. During the visit, he met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Orda.kz reports.
On behalf of the president of Kazakhstan and the people of the country, Kosherbayev expressed condolences to the leadership and people of Iran over the recent tragic events and wished the victims a speedy recovery.
At the meeting with the Iranian president, the parties discussed the implementation of agreements reached during Masoud Pezeshkian’s official visit to Kazakhstan in December 2025, as well as the regional situation.
Talks with Abbas Araghchi focused on bilateral cooperation, interaction in international and regional organizations, and the further development of relations between the two countries.
The parties paid special attention to the agreement on the construction of a Kazakh transport and logistics terminal at the port of Shahid Rajai. By the end of 2025, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Iran had increased by 26.4% and reached $430.2 million.
Following the talks, Kazakhstan and Iran confirmed their interest in further developing bilateral cooperation.
