Kazakhstan Schools to Bring In Officers for New Constitution Classes

Law enforcement officers will lead practical sessions as part of new compulsory subjects for schoolchildren in Kazakhstan, Orda.kz reports.

The new subjects will be introduced in the 2026–2027 academic year. Students in grades 5–7 will study “Fundamentals of the Constitution,” while those in grades 8–11 will take “Law and Order.”

History and law teachers will conduct the main lessons, with law enforcement officers brought in for practical sessions.

The courses will be taught by history and law teachers. Law enforcement officers will be invited as mentors for additional practical sessions,the Ministry of Education said in response to an inquiry from Orda.kz.

The ministry did not specify which agencies would send officers to schools or how often they would take part in the classes.

“Fundamentals of the Constitution” was developed following the adoption of Kazakhstan’s new Constitution in the March 15, 2026 referendum. The ministry did not say whether work on the course began before or after the vote.

The curricula are now undergoing final review, while teaching guidelines have already been prepared. Officials say the new subjects will not increase students’ workload because the classes will be held within the hours already allocated in the curriculum.
