Kazakhstan is ready to consider supplying fuel and lubricants to Russia if it receives an official request from the Russian government, Orda.kz reports.

According to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy, if Russia officially applies to buy motor fuel, Kazakhstan is ready to consider selling fuel and lubricants on mutually beneficial commercial terms.

At the same time, the ministry stressed that international agreements and commercial contracts can be concluded only if Kazakhstan has available fuel reserves.

The absolute priority remains the full and uninterrupted supply of the domestic market. Export supplies can be carried out only if there are no risks to meeting the needs of Kazakhstan’s citizens and economy, the ministry said.

Earlier, media reported that Russia was negotiating with Kazakhstan on the purchase of about 50,000 tons of gasoline.

Later, Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov said there had been no official requests from the Russian side at that time.
