Kazakhstan’s Finance Ministry has proposed adding citizens’ individual identification numbers, or IINs, to receipts issued by pharmacies and clinics, Orda.kz reports.
Deputy Finance Minister Erzhan Birzhanov explained why the measure is needed.
The initiative to indicate IINs is intended to track targeted funds. In other words, when money is allocated for the purchase of medicines for certain categories of people, this mechanism is being considered to make sure that those categories of people actually bought those medicines.he said on the sidelines of the Mazhilis.
He clarified that funds allocated under the guaranteed volume of free medical care would be subject to such control. At the same time, he said, it would not be possible to track spending from the compulsory social health insurance system in the same way.
Earlier, after recent scandals in the compulsory social health insurance system, the government presented a new model for the fund’s future work. It has now been transferred to the jurisdiction of the Finance Ministry.
