Kazakhstan Names the Regions With the Largest Male Population

Ahead of Defender of the Fatherland Day, the Bureau of National Statistics released data on where the largest number of men live in Kazakhstan, their average age, and the sectors where they work most often, Orda.kz reports.
According to the figures, the largest male populations are in Almaty and the Turkestan region, with about 1.1 million men each. They are followed by the Almaty region with 806,500 and Astana with 785,400.
By age, the picture looks like this:
- 30.2% of men are children and teenagers under 15;
- 56.5% are between 16 and 60;
- 3.3% are over 61.
Men in Kazakhstan are most often employed in industry, where they account for 16.5%. Many also work in trade at 14%, agriculture at 12.4%, and transport and warehousing at 11.1%. Among individual entrepreneurs, men make up 54.7%.
The largest male age group in the country is 35 to 44. There are 1.4 million men in that category.
The most popular boys’ name over the past five months was Alan, chosen for 817 newborns. It was followed by Aisultan, Alikhan, Muhammad and Ramazan.
The average age of men in Kazakhstan is 31.1 years, while male life expectancy stands at 72.19 years.
