Kazakhstan May Become Founding Member of New International AI Organization

Kazakhstan plans to join the creation of the World Cooperation Organization for Artificial Intelligence, which will be headquartered in Shanghai, Orda.kz reports.
The draft agreement was published on the Open NPAs portal. It was prepared by the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development and will be open for public discussion until July 15.
According to the draft, the new intergovernmental organization will serve as an international platform for cooperation in artificial intelligence. Its members will work together on AI governance, standardization and safe development for civilian purposes only.
The document also says the organization is being created to reduce the technological gap between countries and exchange best practices in AI.
The purpose of signing the agreement is Kazakhstan’s participation as a founding state of the World Cooperation Organization for Artificial Intelligence, which will provide access to an international platform for exchanging best practices and building capacity in artificial intelligence, as well as reducing the technological gap,the document says.
The ministry believes Kazakhstan’s accession to the agreement will not have negative social, economic or legal consequences for the country.
Earlier, Orda.kz reported that Singapore-based SuperX AI Technology Limited, which provides infrastructure services for artificial intelligence, proposed a phased project to build a national intelligent computing center in Kazakhstan with a capacity of one GW.
