Kazakhstan has introduced color marking and digital tracking for discount diesel supplied to farmers, Orda.kz reports.
The Ministry of Energy said the fuel is now dyed yellow, blue, and red, while each batch receives a separate PIN code. Its movement is tracked through a virtual warehouse in the electronic invoice system.
According to the ministry, misuse of preferential diesel has fallen by 21%. Actual consumption dropped from 729,000 to 602,000 tons. Officials said some of the cheaper fuel had previously gone to resellers instead of reaching farms.
At the start of the year, the Energy and Agriculture Ministries approved a delivery schedule for 402,000 tons of diesel for the sowing campaign. Supplies run from February 1 to June 30.
The recommended price was set at 263 tenge per liter at the destination station. With regional operator markups, the final price rose to 281 tenge per liter, which is 49 tenge, or 15%, below average retail prices.
