Kazakhstan and Turkey will create an enterprise to produce UAVs, among other agreements reached by the two presidents. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed a declaration of eternal friendship and a package of documents, including an agreement to produce and service ANKA drones, Orda.kz reports, citing Akorda.
Kazakhstan has become the first foreign country to start producing these UAVs. In addition to major economic projects, including with TAV Holding, the agreements also cover humanitarian cooperation. Kazakhstan and Turkey plan to develop cultural centers, educational programs, and cooperation between media organizations.
In particular, the agreements include the joint Abay–Akif program, the opening of two schools by the Turkish Maarif Foundation in Kazakhstan, cooperation between the TV and Radio Complex of the President of Kazakhstan and Türkiye’s public broadcaster TRT, and the construction of multidisciplinary hospitals.
According to Akorda, Turkey will invest almost one billion dollars in projects in Kazakhstan. In particular:
- in the Abay region, Miryıldız plans to build a mining and processing plant;
- İskefe Holding plans to launch gelatin production in Almaty;
- in the Turkestan region, Orzax Group plans to create modern production facilities for dietary supplements;
- in Aktobe, S Sistem Lojistik, together with Kazpost JSC, plans to create a logistics center at the international airport;
- in Astana, Tiryaki Holding is building a plant for the deep processing of wheat and peas.
For reference, the ANKA combat drone was developed in Turkey in 2013 and has been tested in combat conditions. The UAV has a maximum takeoff weight of 1,700 kg and can carry a payload of up to 350 kg. Its flight time is up to 30 hours, and its maximum altitude is up to 9,000 meters. The wingspan is 17.5 meters, with a length of about eight meters.
Orda.kz has asked experts to comment on the new agreements. Follow updates on the website.
