Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vladimir Putin met in Moscow to discuss a wide range of issues in bilateral cooperation, as well as preparations for the Russian president’s upcoming state visit to Kazakhstan, Orda.kz reports.
Tokayev thanked Putin for the warm welcome and congratulated Russians on the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
We honor the heroes of the bloodiest war in human history. The Soviet state, having defeated fascism, emerged from World War II as a great power and became a founder of the United Nations. We remember this and honor our veterans. Only 57 front-line soldiers remain in Kazakhstan, living and remembering the war,Tokayev said.
The president of Kazakhstan noted that cooperation between the two countries is developing dynamically in all areas. According to him, Russia remains one of the key investors in Kazakhstan’s economy, and mutual trade may exceed $30 billion by the end of the year.
Tokayev also emphasized the development of humanitarian ties, including in education. He noted the work of Sirius schools in Almaty, Astana and other cities.

Separately, the head of state pointed to the growth of tourist flows. In 2025, Russia ranked first by the number of tourists who visited Kazakhstan.
Tokayev also expressed confidence that the upcoming summit of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Astana would be successful, and that Putin’s state visit to Kazakhstan would become an important political event.
In turn, Putin noted Tokayev’s personal contribution to strengthening relations between the two countries.
For our people and for us personally, this is truly a grand, perhaps the most important holiday. The fact that you found it possible to come to Moscow and be with us these days is the best proof of the level of relations between Kazakhstan and Russia. To a large extent, this is due to you and your personal contribution to the development of interstate relations,Putin said.
The heads of state also exchanged views on current regional and international issues.
