The oil and gas sector’s share of Kazakhstan’s GDP fell to 15.1% in 2025, down 1.2 percentage points from a year earlier, Orda.kz reports.
Meanwhile, non-resource exports are growing. Kazakhstan exported $12 billion worth of non-resource goods in the first half of 2026, up 14.6% from the same period last year.
Metallurgy, engineering, chemicals, and construction materials accounted for the bulk of exports. The measures already taken are producing tangible results, helping domestic companies use more of their capacity and expand output,Industry and Construction Minister Yersayyn Nagaspayev said at a government meeting.
The government is relying on non-resource industries to drive export growth and reduce the economy’s dependence on oil.
