Hungary's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has strongly criticized a new Ukrainian bill that would halt Russian oil and gas transit through Ukraine during martial law, Orda reports, citing The Kyiv Independent.
He took to Facebook on January 8 to voice his opposition.
The reality is that in the EU, member states collectively and unanimously decide on the admission of new members. In other words, each member state has to vote in favor, Szijjarto said.
The legislation was put forward on January 7 by former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and European Solidarity party members.
If passed, it would stop Russian energy from flowing through Ukrainian territory.
