Nearly 7,000 women serve in Kazakhstan’s Armed Forces, Orda.kz reports, citing the country’s Ministry of Defense.
According to the ministry, they include approximately 1,000 officers and more than 6,000 contract service members. Eleven women hold senior positions.
Women serve across various branches of the military, working as medical personnel, psychologists, financial specialists, lawyers, communications specialists, human resources officers, logistics personnel and IT professionals.
They also serve in combat-support units and military headquarters, as well as in instructor roles. Some are trained in specialized fields, including aviation, marksmanship and special operations.
The Ministry of Defense also noted that women are not subject to compulsory military service in Kazakhstan and that no plans to introduce female conscription are currently under consideration. Women may voluntarily join the Armed Forces under contract.
