An unusual new guest has been spotted in Gorky Park — a Chinese goose swimming calmly among wild ducks, Orda.kz reports.
The bird was seen on the lower pond. The goose stayed among about three dozen ducks, occasionally moved aside, pecked at the grass and showed no signs of concern.
At the same time, the new arrival is a domestic breed that is not found in the wild. Ornithologist and research director of the Kazakhstan Association for Biodiversity Conservation Sergey Sklyarenko commented on the sighting.
Such cases are rare and are of interest to specialists, as they make it possible to observe the interaction between domestic and wild species in an urban environment. he said.
According to him, the goose most likely ended up in the park by accident.
Most likely, the bird escaped from its owners. Domestic geese are usually not released into the natural environment. Sklyarenko added.
For now, the goose appears to be doing well and is not coming into conflict with the other birds, the expert noted.
