Gumar Sergazin Joins Kazakhstan’s Atomic Energy Agency as Third Deputy Chair

Gumar Sergazin has been appointed Deputy Chair of the Kazakhstan Atomic Energy Agency according to a decree signed by the President, Orda.kz reports.
Sergazin holds a law degree from the Kazakh-American University (2008) and a master's degree from the Academy of Public Administration. In 2015, he completed a program at the IAEA Nuclear Law Institute in Austria, and later pursued additional studies in electric power engineering at the Akhmet Baitursynov Qostanay State University.
Most of his career has been in the Ministry of Energy. Before moving into the energy sector, Sergazin worked at the Public Service Center and served as a lawyer for BTA Bank.
He joined the Ministry of Energy in 2013, where he led the Department of Nuclear Energy and Industry. He also served as Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Atomic and Energy Supervision and Control.
The Atomic Energy Agency was established on March 18, 2025, by presidential decree. It assumed certain responsibilities from the Ministry of Energy and is led by former Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev. Earlier, on April 25, Asset Makhambetov and Timur Zhantikin were appointed as deputy heads of the Agency.
