Commercial gas prices in Kazakhstan will rise by 33% from July 1, Orda.kz reports.
Deputy Energy Minister Kaiyrkhan Tutkyshbayev announced this at a briefing.
According to him, gas production in Kazakhstan has decreased over the past four months because of technical failures at Tengiz and other fields. However, this did not affect gas supplies to the population, as the national operator QazaqGaz covered consumption using transit gas.
From July 1, we expect the average price of commercial gas to increase by 33%. This is being done so that we can ensure the timely passage of the heating season and renew gas infrastructure,Tutkyshbayev said.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin said the increase in gas prices would add no more than 0.2 percentage points to inflation.
