Electric Cars Still Make Up Just 0.5% Of Vehicles In Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan has registered 32,479 electric vehicles, or just 0.5% of all vehicles in the country, Orda.kz reports.
The Bureau of National Statistics said a total of 5,995,000 vehicles are registered in Kazakhstan.
In May, 147,700 vehicles were registered. These included 129,000 passenger cars, 8,700 trucks, 1,300 buses, 1,600 motorcycles, 3,600 trailers, and 3,300 other vehicles.
As of June 1, 2026, almost six million passenger cars were registered in the country. Of these, 80% run on gasoline, 7.6% on diesel, and 6.5% use mixed fuel. Gas-powered vehicles account for 0.4%.
The largest number of electric cars is registered in Almaty — 17,506. Astana follows with 3,235, Almaty Region with 2,857, and Shymkent with 1,042.
Overall, electric vehicles remain a small part of Kazakhstan’s transport fleet.
