An unidentified person has claimed to possess the personal data of 4.2 million users of the Kazakhstani educational platform Daryn.online, Orda.kz reports, citing the cyberthreat intelligence platform ThreatMon

ThreatMon said an unidentified person had posted an advertisement claiming to possess the platform’s complete user database. The author of the post claimed to have obtained personal data, account details and information about the educational activities of students, teachers and administrators.

The alleged leak reportedly included the following information.

  • Users’ first and last names
  • Phone numbers and email addresses
  • Password hashes in bcrypt format
  • Individual identification numbers
  • Dates of birth and gender
  • User roles, including student, teacher and administrator
  • Grades, ratings and class statistics
  • Last known IP addresses

ThreatMon said the published samples contained hashed passwords, active session tokens and internal identifiers associated with users, schools and regions. The analysts said the data appeared more consistent with an export from an internal database than with information collected from open sources.

Daryn.online is one of the largest companies in Kazakhstan’s educational technology market, providing online learning and university admission preparation. If confirmed, a leak involving millions of records, including data belonging to minors and teachers, would create serious privacy risks for users. It could also lead to phishing and password-guessing attacks,ThreatMon said.

The analysts emphasized that neither Daryn.online representatives nor independent cybersecurity specialists had confirmed that the database had been compromised at the time of publication. The alleged leak therefore remains unconfirmed.

The Orda.kz editorial team is preparing an official request asking the State Technical Service to comment on the information.
