Objects resembling drones were discovered in the Borili district of the West Kazakhstan region, the regional police department informed Orda.kz.
Authorities have launched an investigation into their origin.
On the morning of October 23, residents of the village of Qyzyltal heard an explosion. Eyewitnesses told Uralskaya Nedelya that the blast nearly tore the roofs off their homes:
Judging by the crater created, the drone was carrying a significant payload. Representatives from the district administration, the emergency department, and the police are currently there.
At the site, debris was found bearing a Ukrainian inscription reading “Do not touch, moving part.” It is believed to have been part of a drone.
Similar incidents involving UAVs have previously been recorded in the western region.
The West Kazakhstan Region Police Department confirmed to Orda.kz that an investigation is in progress.
The object was discovered outside of a populated area. We are investigating the circumstances with the relevant authorities,
added the department.
Local media also reported that an air raid alert was issued earlier that morning in Russia’s neighboring Orenburg region, allegedly due to a drone attack threat.
