In Almaty, a military court has issued a verdict in the case of the death of soldier Dosymzhan Salimzhan, who died in a hospital in May 2024, Orda.kz reports.
In response to a request from the Orda editorial staff, the military court's press service stated that the guilty officer was charged under Article 451 of the Criminal Code "Exceeding Authority."
The fact of the assault was proven. Officer Zhanbota Shakirov was stripped of his lieutenant rank and sentenced to seven years in prison. The court also ordered 10 million tenge in moral damages, which the guilty party must pay to the affected party.
19-year-old conscript Dosymzhan Salimzhan from the Atyrau region died in a military hospital in Almaty on May 13, 2024. Military doctors named kidney failure, anemia, and a stomach ulcer as the cause.
Dosymzhan's parents claimed that their son died from being assaulted. The soldier's mother, Ardak Imangalieva, claims that she sent her perfectly healthy son to the army and demanded a fair investigation and trial.
As the conscript's father told an Orda.kz journalist, Dosymzhan Salimzhan was assaulted on May 1, but no one called a doctor or provided assistance. Later, his condition worsened.
On May 3, the young man contacted his mother and said he had a fever. Later, he was taken to intensive care. The doctor who examined the soldier said that both his lungs had failed. He was on dialysis, and his lungs, heart, liver, and stomach were filled with fluid.
