Company Linked to Aliya Nazarbayeva and Failed Luxury Clinic Project Liquidated in Switzerland

Kerfuffle AG, a Swiss company whose board included Aliya Nazarbayeva, the youngest daughter of Kazakhstan’s former president Nursultan Nazarbayev, has been formally liquidated, Orda.kz reports, citing the Exit to the Sea Telegram channel.
The company has been removed from Switzerland’s commercial register. Nazarbayeva had been listed as a member of its board of directors since 2016.
Official Swiss records show that Kerfuffle AG entered liquidation following a shareholder decision in November 2024.
Orda.kz previously reported on the company’s history. According to Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger, Kerfuffle AG was involved in a project to build a private medical clinic for wealthy clients on the shore of Lake Zurich. The project was initially valued at 350 million Swiss francs. In 2013, Irish lawyer Thomas John Gallagher, who represented Nazarbayeva’s interests, brought a local cardiologist into the project. The planned “castle” complex was to include 50 luxury rooms, operating rooms, a helipad and a helicopter service transporting clients from Zurich Airport.
The Kazakh side reportedly froze its participation in the spring of 2018. The Swiss doctor continued financing the project until 2020 and accumulated significant debts. Kerfuffle AG later filed a claim against him for approximately one million Swiss francs.
Tages-Anzeiger reported that amid the financial collapse, the doctor set fire to his villa and later died by suicide shortly before the property was due to be auctioned.
