The Prosecutor’s Office has announced the return of assets worth 1.9 billion tenge to the state, including funds related to the "Operator ROP" case and debts linked to the LRT project, Orda.kz reports.
The agency’s press release initially included information on recoveries from convicted employees of Operator ROP LLP, but this section was later removed:
We conducted an analysis of the execution of judicial decisions in favor of the state. Confiscated funds in the amount of one billion tenge were collected in favor of the state from employees of Operator ROP LLP convicted in 2023, stated the original version of the supervisory authority’s release.
The reference to LRT-related assets remained unchanged.
Prosecutors noted that they reviewed the enforcement of court rulings in favor of the state and City Transportation Systems LLP (formerly Astana LRT), founded by the capital's Akimat.
Thus, 40 real estate facilities were transferred to the state – 39 non-residential premises and a land plot with railway tracks covering 12.8 hectares. The total value of these transferred assets amounted to 920 million tenge. Another 37 objects worth 615 million tenge are in the process of being transferred.
Orda.kz has previously covered legal proceedings involving former executives of Operator ROP LLP, a company once associated with Aliya Nazarbayeva, the youngest daughter of the former President.
In 2023, the appellate board upheld a ruling in a case concerning the embezzlement of public funds. Former Vice Minister of Ecology Akhmetzhan Primkulov was also among those convicted.
The editorial team at Orda.kz has submitted an inquiry to the Prosecutor General's Office for clarification regarding asset recovery in the "Operator ROP" case.
