Companies in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan Included in New EU Sanctions Package

The European Union has placed companies operating in Kazakhstan under tighter restrictions on exports of dual-use goods and technologies, Orda.kz reports.
The Council of the European Union approved its 21st package of sanctions against Russia on July 23. As part of the package, 51 entities were added to a list subject to stricter export controls.
Some of the companies are based in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Hong Kong, India, Turkey and the UAE.
The EU says the companies are helping Russia circumvent export restrictions, including those covering microelectronics, computer numerical control machinery and semiconductor-processing equipment.
The Council’s announcement did not specify the names or number of companies operating in Kazakhstan.
The new package also added 41 vessels to the EU sanctions list for their alleged involvement in Russia’s shadow fleet.
In total, the EU imposed sanctions on 218 individuals and entities, including 48 people and 170 companies and organizations.
The package also targets banks, cryptocurrency platforms, oil refineries and companies linked to Russia’s military-industrial complex.
