UK Allows Kazakh Oil Shipments Through Russian Territory

The British authorities have issued a special license allowing the transportation of Kazakh oil through Russian territory, despite the current sanctions against Russian companies, Orda.kz reports.
According to the document, transactions related to the supply, purchase, transportation, and payment for Kazakh oil are not subject to sanctions restrictions, even if Russia’s Transneft and its subsidiaries are involved in the process.
At the same time, clear conditions are established: the oil must be exclusively of Kazakh origin and must not belong to persons associated with Russia. In this case, the Russian Federation may only be used as a transit territory — for loading, dispatching, or transporting the raw materials.
In effect, the license creates an exception to the sanctions regime and allows Kazakhstan to preserve oil exports along existing routes through Russian infrastructure.
