China Restricts Exports to 14 EU Entities After New Sanctions

China has added 14 European Union entities to its export control list after the EU imposed new restrictions on Chinese companies, Orda.kz reports.
The decision was announced by China’s Ministry of Commerce. Chinese exporters are now prohibited from supplying the listed entities with dual-use goods, which can have both civilian and military applications.
Exporters are prohibited from supplying dual-use goods to these 14 entities. Any related activities already underway must stop immediately,the ministry said.
Foreign companies and individuals are also prohibited from transferring Chinese-made dual-use goods to the listed entities. Exporters may apply to the Ministry of Commerce for permission in exceptional cases.
The ministry said the measures were introduced to protect China’s national security and interests and fulfill its international nonproliferation obligations. The restrictions took effect on July 24.
China announced the measures one day after the European Union adopted its 21st package of sanctions against Russia.
The EU tightened export restrictions on 51 entities accused of supporting Russia’s military-industrial complex or helping it evade sanctions. Some are based in China, including Hong Kong, as well as India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and the UAE.
