Bektenov Met with Rosatom Head
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov met with the Rosatom head, Alexey Likhachev, Orda.kz reports, citing the government press service.
They discussed cooperation in nuclear energy, quantum technologies, and digitalization.
They also discussed the joint use of advanced technologies, the development of human resources, and the interaction of experts from the two countries to further develop the nuclear industry.
Oil and gas industry analyst Oleg Chervinsky previously reported that efforts had been made to organize such a meeting.
Allegedly, the Russian Embassy had asked Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry to assist in arranging meetings between Alexey Likhachev, President Toqayev, and Prime Minister Bektenov to discuss cooperation in the nuclear sector.
He published a photo of the request, which was made on October 11, a few days after the referendum on constructing a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan has not given an official response confirming or denying the authenticity of this document.
Qasym-Jomart Toqayev had previously stated that the construction of the nuclear power plant would be entrusted to an international consortium, not a single contractor.
Meanwhile, Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev has recently visited South Korea, while Toqayev visited Paris.
