The Atyrau Oil Refinery (ANPZ) has lost a court case over exceeding permissible pollution limits, Orda.kz reports.
Earlier, the Atyrau Region Department of Ecology recorded violations involving excessive emissions at the facility. An administrative case was opened under Part 3 of Article 328 of Kazakhstan’s Administrative Offenses Code.
On July 29, the Specialized Administrative Court of Atyrau found the refinery guilty and imposed a fine of ₸28,020,324. ANPZ appealed the decision, but the court rejected the complaint.
The ruling has now taken legal effect, and the refinery is obliged to pay the fine — over ₸28 million — for violating environmental regulations.
Enforcement proceedings are currently underway.
