The second group of Przewalski’s horses to arrive in Kazakhstan this year has been brought from Tierpark Berlin, Orda.kz reports, citing the Ministry of Ecology.
A special flight landed at Kostanay Airport on June 5. After a veterinary examination, the animals were sent to the reintroduction center at the Altyn Dala reserve, where they will adapt under the supervision of specialists.
In early June, the first group of Przewalski’s horses was delivered to Kazakhstan from the Czech Republic as part of a project to restore the population of the world’s only surviving wild horse species.
Under an agreement between Kazakhstan and Prague Zoo, another 40 Przewalski’s horses are expected to be brought to the country by 2029.
The first two groups of animals arrived at the reserve in 2024 and 2025. In May, some of them were released into the wild for the first time.
