Sergey Zinchenko was detained while holding a solitary picket in support of the QazNews24 satirist, reports "Nasha Gazeta."
This follows the recent arrest of Temirlan Yensebek, who faces charges of inciting discord over his social media posts.
Meanwhile, journalists Ruslan Biketov and Asem Zhapisheva have each been sentenced to 15 days in detention for their separate pickets supporting Yensebek.
Nasha Gazeta reports that local officials from the Akimat, Prosecutor's Office, and police arrived to speak with Zinchenko.
They requested an end to the picket, citing the lack of required notification for a peaceful assembly.
Zinchenko was subsequently detained. He was later fined by a Qostanay court 50 MCI (Monthly Calculation Index), according to Vlast.kz, citing his lawyer.
This incident comes amid recent changes to Kazakhstan's assembly regulations, which require local authorities (Akimats) to provide alternative options before disallowing public gatherings.
