Reports that Wildberries may move part of its warehouse operations to Kazakhstan after attacks on its logistics facilities in Russia are being widely discussed online. Kazakhstan’s Trade and Integration Ministry says the company has not submitted any official request to open additional warehouses, Orda.kz reports.
The speculation followed a report by Kommersant. Citing four commercial real estate sources, the newspaper said RWB Group, which operates Wildberries, was looking for around 100,000 square meters of warehouse space in Kazakhstan.
The sources linked the possible expansion to the company’s efforts to protect part of its logistics infrastructure following attacks on facilities in Russia. RWB confirmed only that it planned to expand its warehouse network.
To date, the ministry has not received any official requests from Wildberries regarding the placement of additional warehouse facilities in Kazakhstan, the ministry said.
Officials added that they would consider any proposals if submitted. The decision would take into account Kazakhstan’s interests, the size of the investment, the number of jobs created, and opportunities for domestic businesses.
No special terms or exemptions have been offered to Wildberries.
