Marketplaces, car distributors, and international brands have become the biggest contributors to Kazakhstan’s budget in the trade sector. According to Finprom analysts, the industry is strengthening its position and having an increasingly strong impact on the country’s economy, Orda.kz reports.
In 2025, trade’s share of GDP reached 19.2%, while growth was nearly 9% — one of the highest rates among all industries. At the same time, the list of top contributors has shifted.
Kaspi.kz ranked first, paying 138.4 billion tenge in taxes and cementing its status as the sector’s largest player thanks to the growth of e-commerce and digital services. Toyota Motor Kazakhstan came second with 125.3 billion tenge, representing the traditional car distribution model. Coca-Cola Almaty Bottlers rounded out the top three with 61.6 billion tenge.
British American Tobacco Kazakhstan Trading took fourth place with 42.5 billion tenge, while ASBIS Kazakhstan, which operates in IT distribution, ranked fifth with 31 billion tenge.
The top 10 was rounded out by the Magnum Cash&Carry chain, which paid 20.7 billion tenge in taxes and remained the country’s largest retailer.
Overall, the top 20 companies contributed more than 690 billion tenge in taxes, reflecting steady domestic consumer demand. The sector’s influence is likely to continue growing, driven by digitalization, the expansion of marketplaces, and shifting consumer behavior, with online commerce playing an increasingly important role.
The main fixes were grammar, article use, prepositions, tense consistency, and a few more natural phrases for English readers.
