Uzbekistan has expanded legal liability for mass unrest to include not only direct participation but also preparation and financing, Orda.kz reports, citing Gazeta.uz.
On March 27, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law amending Article 244 of the Criminal Code, which governs mass disorder.
Previously, the law established criminal responsibility for organizing riots, actively participating in them, and using violence against civilians. Later, the above liability was proposed.
The new amendments introduce criminal penalties for undergoing training with the intent to participate in mass riots and for financing their organization.
