U.S. Ambassador to Türkiye Thomas Barrack announced that Israeli and Syrian leaders have reached a ceasefire agreement with U.S. mediation, Orda.kz reports.
The move has been welcomed by Türkiye, Jordan, and other neighboring states.
Tensions between Israel and Syria escalated earlier this week following armed clashes between Druze and Bedouin communities in southern Syria. Syrian government forces later intervened, prompting Israel to launch airstrikes on Syrian military targets, citing border security concerns.
The situation escalated further after Israeli airstrikes targeted sites near the presidential palace and military headquarters in Damascus.
Syrian forces ultimately withdrew, and further violence erupted between the Druze and Bedouin.
